Mentre salgo e scendo le scale per trasportare al piano di sopra la provvista giornaliera di legna non posso fare a meno di sentirmi soddisfatta per aver terminato il rinnovo delle scale. Finalmente posso depennarlo dalla lista dei lavori da finire a casa.
Lavoro fatto in tanti step l’ultimo dei quali addirittura terminato con la torcia visto le ore limitate della tipica giornata invernale svedese. Ma ora vi mostro come era prima.
Inizialmente volevo solo eliminare il linoleum dai gradini, eliminare la carta da parati e ricolorare.
Ma poi diciamo che mi sono fatta prendere la mano dopo aver notato purtroppo una brutta crepa sul muro che mi aveva allarmato temendo problemi ben più gravi. Fortunatamente non era niente di grave considerando che questa casa ha ben 111 anni ma ho dovuto ripensare in corso d’opera a come risolvere.
L’imprevisto mi aveva inizialmente scoraggiato per cui mi sono concessa qualche giorno per pensare a come risolvere. E anche questa volta ho seguito l’istinto seguendo le maniere drastiche. Ho eliminato la parte sottostante della parete lasciandola scoperta e dopo molto lavoro e soprattutto molta polvere…
I mattoni sono stati lavati per togliere i residui di cemento e le travi di legno sono state cartavetrate (non potete immaginare la polvere creata) e lasciate al naturale.
Se prima la scale era molto grande ora posso dire di averla ulteriormente allargata. Il che non guasta mai!
Vi mostro il risultato.
Si tratta sicuramente di scale vecchie, dai gradini in legno segnati dal tempo che nonostante la levigazione, per togliere la colla con cui erano attaccati i gradini in linolium, rimangono segnati. Difetti che tutto sommato fanno parte del suo fascino, vecchi mattoni e travi di legno che diventano elementi decorativi dando carattere a questa vecchia dimora.
